Spring 2005: An Invitation
New Communities is a place for conversation, shared work, struggle, and celebration. Located physically in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood of Saint Louis, Missouri, in the United States, our invitation and embrace extend to everyone of good will. It's a place of many and diverse voices, shaped in song, written essay, photography, art, political action, social outreach, family rearing, and good old day-to-day work.
You're invited.
There are many ways you might want to take part in what's taking shape. Open a gallery for your artwork. Contribute an occassional reflection or maintain a regular weblog. Add a link to your organization's website. Help us maintain an active alternative library of political, social, economic, environmental and religious works of all sorts, written, audio and video. Participate in and record direct actions. Let us interview you where you live, work, or study.
Gala launch on Saturday, May 7
From dawn to dusk on May 7th, join us in the backyard of 4542 Gibson and surrounding blocks of FPSE. We'll be interviewing neighbors, shooting video, recording voices, taking pictures, roaming the neighborhood to see what's up--soliciting writers, artists, gardeners, activists, environmental gurus. Drop in at any point. Bring your camera, your video camera, your sketchpad. Bring some food and drink to share. Exchange stories. Bring your artwork, your writing, your pets, yourself. Come play some music. Invite your colleagues, friends, children, spouses, partners. Come find out what we're up to.
Let's envision our peaceable future!
